Our more seasoned jumpers will most certainly know this, and our newer jumpers will learn
quite quickly. Manifest is one of, if not, THE most difficult jobs in skydiving. Manifest is tasked
with an incredible amount of responsibility, from helping solo students and tandems complete
their paperwork and get matched with instructors, to ensuring experienced jumpers have up-
to-date reserves and are current, as well as organizing each and every load all day, every day.
Without a doubt, Manifest have their plates full from sunrise to sunset, so it’s always important
to ensure that we do all that we can to make their jobs easier by being prepared. Here’s a few
ways how:
- Have your logbook and license available if you are new to the dropzone, or if you’re a
returning jumper, that you are current and have an experienced jumper waiver on file.
- Before you’ve arrived at the dropzone, ensure that if you are jumping your own
equipment that it’s not only up to date, but that you have your Reserve Packing Data
Card available for Manifest to review.
- When heading to the manifest counter, wait until they ask how they can help before
asking for what you need. Chances are they have a lot going and will help as soon as
they can.
- On busy days, let Manifest know what you need and then let them assist the next
jumper. Lingering at the counter can slow the operation.
- Jumpers should only manifest for loads they are 100% ready to jump on. This means no
manifesting with an unpacked rig, or double manifesting unless you have made previous
arrangements.
- Manifest will announce any delays in the operation, and if on a delay they will announce any
changes, so no need to ask for a weather report or status update.
- If you are manifesting for a group, ensure that you have all the jumpers’ names, jump
tickets and information needed before you approach the counter.
- Smile. Be courteous. Smile. Be prepared. Smile. Bring coffee. Smile.
- GO JUMP!
Manifest is working hard each and every day to ensure a smooth operation, and that you and
all your fellow jumpers are able to have a wonderful day in the sky, so do your best to make
their job a bit easier and everyone will have a great time!
