Summer made a brief appearance this month, but we're right back into winter-like conditions again. We had a very busy weekend scheduled with over 90 tandem students, Rich's 8-way event, and Team-For-A-Day, but ended up watching the winds gust to 44mph last Saturday. We had a big turnout anyway for CSC Rhythm's Team-For-A-Day event. They got a little creative and ended up hosting CSC's first ever creeper competition - more photos can be seen here. Sunday's forecast was for clouds and rain. The rain never arrived and the 14,000' ceiling allowed us to keep the PAC flying all day.

CSC Rhythm XP Team-For-A-Day Creeper Competition
Currently, we are open Wednesdays thru Sundays and starting this weekend, we will be open at 7:30am on Saturdays and Sundays. Don't forget that we will be operating 7 days a week beginning Memorial Day Weekend.
If you're ever wondering what's going on at CSC, be sure to bookmark the "Flight Status" page on our website. We update the page daily to give you an idea of what's going on at the DZ (i.e. weather conditions, number of students expected, etc.)

This Sunday is our annual Cinco de Mayo event with $17 jumps all day long. We are changing things up a bit with free Mojitos and a taco bar after jumping Sunday evening. Donations can be made to help cover the cost of our new recycling containers.
CSC has begun recycling services at the dropzone. You will soon see containers located at several places around the courtyard and in the hangars. Please help us by making sure that we are getting all recyclable materials into the correct bins.
We realize that skydiving isn't the most "green" activity, but with our extremely fuel efficient PAC 750XL plus the new recycling program, we are doing what we can to help reduce our impact on the environment.
Things are nearly 100% operational again after investing over 1,200 man hours and $30,000 on labor, materials, and legal fees to get CSC back on her feet. Things are definitely different around here, but people are really liking our new, simpler look. This dropzone, more than most, is about the people, not our facilities. We simply couldn't have survived without your support - especially those who helped out - thank you!
Rich Madsen will be hosting a 10-way event this weekend:
I hope everyone had a nice winter and you're ready to do some skydiving! I've been told by management [Doug] that if I was to continue as part of the "machine", I had to come up with some great events for this season or I would find myself at some Cessna dropzone in the middle of Iowa. Well, here goes - I will be putting together some very fun, as well as challenging, events. We will have something planned 3 weeks of every month. First it will be 8-way and like last year it's the first to sign up gets the slots. We will use the 8-way dive pool for all jumps with the hope of turning some fast, crisp points. The following weekend will be 10-way with a twist. All exits will be single file and all points will be from the 10-way dive pool but instead of just one point, we will turn as many as we can. Last year it turned out to be some of the most fun dives we made. Now for the "biggy" and I'm stoked for this one - 20-way! This will be patterned after the Arizona Challenge, difficult dives but well worth doing. What I ask from everyone is to commit to a full day. This insures the best chance for success, the more jumps together the better they become. If you have any questions just shoot me an email at stardian2001@hotmail.com
Thanks and see you all soon...

As we mentioned last month, we had a couple relatively minor maintenance items that ended up turning into big events simply due to the fact the airplane is in Mexico. Logistically, it's impossible to pack for every possible maintenance event for a 7 month road trip. A few people have gone above and beyond to make sure that our client, Skydive Cuaulta, has an airplane to fly week in and week out.
Special Thanks To:
When I saw the first few images of the Otter in the following photos, my initial reaction was to start looking for another aircraft to cover CSC this summer! Skydive Cuautla was contracted by a Mexico City production company to film a drug bust scene in conjunction with the Mexican military. They filled the cabin of the Otter up with styrofoam drugs and brought in plenty of military personnel along with a Blackhawk helicopter.
Congratulations:
